Shocking

How much detail of a job do you give away?
Just got a Estimate quote through today from our web site as follows

Good morning,

I would like to speak to someone regarding some cable tidying please.

We are an office based on 2 floors in **********.

We have 17 meeting rooms, which I would like to get a quote for cable tidying in.

Most of these rooms just have a telephone cable, but the way the cables are at the moment, can cause a bit of a trip hazard.

These telephones are kept in the middle of the table. I think the best solution would be to have cable tidy mats down, and in 11 of these rooms, a hole put in the middle of the table for the cables to go through (The other 6 tables already have a space where the cables could go). Of course, you may have other suggestions which I would be pleased to hear about.

Please could you contact me on **** ******* to discus if this is something you would be interested in providing a quote for, and if so, to arrange a convenient time.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

**** **********

TBH given that they have already outlined a solution to the problem I think if they had a handyman they would have got him to do it already. Maybe just quote for cable tidying as per customers instructions or something similar. sounds a nice plum job though :)

Yes i agree with the plum job side of it :D but how do you get it if the only solution has already been suggested or are there more? need more tech talk info! to win conntract (me thinks) :p How would you guys handle this

If the cables have to be laid across the floor then the only way I could think of would be to use cable matting, Is there any sort of false flooring you could go under? Saying that best option is to get in and see the job and decide for yourself. If you do go with the first method ie mats use lots of fancy wording in your quote ie relocation of telephone wiring using floor level cable management system :)

if you can get the cables up the wall into a ceiling, you could drop them down a chrome pole thru the desks then back up onto the desks

some people ask for quotes/ advice so they can find out how to do the job themselves, most don't but like to know what they are paying for.its all part of the game some you win some you lose but if you dont appear to be open, friendly and knowledgable you will lose more.
