I think there's some confusion about what she's after. When you buy the alarms from the wholesaler you get a receipt. When you've installed them in the customers premises you give the customer an invoice. Is she asking for the wholesalers receipt or for your invoice for the entire installation job?

well this is a rather poor quality thread! im sure the OP can't seriously be considering going to court. not sure it would even escalate that far tbh.
sounds like you need to change the way you work OP.
Always agree a price before work commences. as for this situation you're in- personally I wouldn't even bother accepting the £10.its an insult. as already mentioned, blacklist the customer and do not work for them again, and learn from your mistake:)

i can't understand why he's even considering giving her his invoice from the supplier. that's his business, nothing to do with her. do you ask tescos to give you their invoice for a bag of spuds.

of course she is asking for the invoice of the alarms i bought,

Why "of course" ??

Why do you give your clients the receipts/invoices between you and your suppliers..?

Your client was requiring you to invoice her, so she has some accountability and traceability from you in case there are warranty issues later on. Of course..!

How do you normally provide this accountability to your clients..?

i do not know what you are talking about! an invoice worth 20 pounds? pls read carefuuly before talk, i gave her my invoice immediately after the work, but she wanted the receipt(sorry i used the word invoice) for the smoke alarms, and also something she called 10 year warranty, i did not keep the receipt, this is why she only wanted to pay me 10 pounds,

You are under no obligation to give her receipts for items that you have purchased.
As for a 10 year warranty that would be offered by the manufacturer of the alarms.

I sent mine away to the manufacturer the other day as it had developed a fault and they have fixed it Free of charge.
(Even though it turned out to be 15 years old!!)

She's got no rights to the receipt from the supplier/wholesaler. He warranty lies with you or your company as the installer, your invoice to here would be the proof of that. In turn your warranty lies with the wholesaler, the wholesaler probably won't honour the warranty directly with the customer because it may be conditional on the product being installed by someone with the appropriate qualificationsand experience.

I would have deffo taken them back
If no pay no smokey and I would be choppy the wiring off very short
and of course this would be after I had carried out safe isolation

she doesnt want much for her £40 no £30 did i say £10 yeah right she is proper having a laugh
next she will want a £10 off you lol

I am owed £130 for 2 jobs I did for a letting agent I have asked the 4 times for payment and have been ignored because I would not sign up to a deal that I would pay them £1k a year for the work they gave me and even a fool could see it was not economically viable so I have wrote this off why. Well it aint worth the grief and because they expected me to jump at a minutes notice and I did they cannot do this again. Then I tripped upon a review site where 3 tenants ripped them to bits over electrical repairs so at least I get some joy out of it.

As for your £40 saga let that be a lesson learned as I always give a cost before work commences why well lets just say some cultures do not want a price so they can barter afterwords but me I always get a confirmation and if they are evasive I wont move until I get an agreement . Then again I have had 2 incidents where they kept saying You come and fix and we will discuss Nope was the reply

well, she's had your pants down so profit from that. give her a good seeing to.
