How much would you charge to replace white switches and sockets to normal chrome ones.

There are 22 in total and these are normal chrome switches and sockets, not the difficult flat plate type.

Job is about 2miles away

Are you supplying or just installing free issue?

labour only, i reckon about 3 hours, so ÂŁ80 -ÂŁ100. don't forget, you'll have to connect cpc's to faceplates on switches. just out of interest, have you made sure there is cpc on lighting?

I would probably charge ÂŁ60, 2 hours work max.

Nice simple job that you don't often come across, that would get further recommendations if you don't overcharge.

i was estimating at 10 mins per fitting 220 mins, 4 hours inc. travel. but as chiplard says, easy job, could go lower to getg a good name.

OP, ...You may be fast, but your never going to exchange 22 face plates in two hours.... As tel quoted at least 10 minutes per plate exchange, and hope that you don't find any duff fixing screws that have been cross threaded or thread stripped.

Can't comment on costs, as i don't know the price of labour in the UK these days. ...lol!!

small point. my employers work to nic rules ie minor works certification, even for a face plate change. i changed 3 d skts recently and had to do 3 minor works. did you do 22 minor works?

I thought certificate was only needed for addition and alteration of circuits. Im pretty sure you dont need to unless requested by customer. NIC go overboard sometimes anyway.

Quite correct, you don't NEED to but some certification will record the limited extent of your involvement in the installation.

If I did that job, I would do one MWC, with a separate test sheet listing results for each circuit. It seems far too much paperwork to do one MWC for every circuit. Doing one MWC for each socket would be crackers.

And on the subject, I was asked last night to change a light switch. - ÂŁ25 I said. They thought I was joking. I then told them I'd have to test the circuit, and verify it was safe when finished, so couldnt do it for any less (I was thinking ÂŁ30 would be a better price). Of course, I didnt get the job!
Alan.

only time i''ll start the van for ÂŁ25 is for regular local customers, if it's a quick in and out job.
