Yes, a B-curve circuit breaker can be used upstream from a C-curve of similar current rating to provide some discrimination but it would only be very marginal and might not be suitable method if the load on the circuit is AC3 or higher ie inductive, load of a poor PF or a load involving start or inrush currents.
