my 20 year old son wants to be an electrician. I have looked online at Oxford and Cherwell college at apprenticeships but they will only take you on if you are already employed in the relevant field for 30 hours per week . Where do we find an employer who will give him a job as an electrician without any experience. Should he do a course first - help ! many thanks

The best way to get an apprenticeship is to speak to an electrician you know, otherwise call and write to all the companies you can, and hope your (or rather his) application sticks out.
You know how there was an outcry over politicians getting their family members internships? Well it's the same with this industry, except nobody cares.
