Discuss How to power 3.6 kw heater in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net
Hi Its fed from a single socket in a cellar but not permanently connected, Just have an extension reel at presentWhat supply do you have to your shed? Where is it fed from?
Yea that heaters not going in that shed then ?, unless you run a new supply out to the shed and hard wire it in appropriately that isHi Its fed from a single socket in a cellar but not permanently connected, Just have an extension reel at present
And don't forget to unreel the extension lead fully when in use.If you need that much heat then your only really option is to get an electrician in to put in a dedicated supply for it, either hard-wired as suggested above, or using one of the 16A round "commando" plug & socket arrangements.
But as that seems unlikely for the typical size of a shed, you would be cheaper getting a basic 2kW heater that can be plugged in to your extension reel without problems. While 3kW is within 13A rating, most cheap extension leads are not really up for max load for long periods so unless necessary, go for a slightly lower max load.
