Hi

Does anyone have any tips for preparing for the 2382 17th edition exam?

So far im just going through past papers but are there other ways to prepare myself for the exam?

Any book recommendations other than the 17th edition?

Thanks in advance

Exam Success IEE Wiring Regulations 2382-20: Amazon.co.uk: Paul Cook: Bookshis is for the 2382-20 but you can also get it for the 2382-10. Really as it is an open book all you really need to do is know what sections are what really.

As you have been doing old papers you will see that there are many questions you will know without looking them up, so do them first, then there will be questions you think you know, just make sure you know where to llook for them and a few that is no idea really, normally 2 answers are way out so it's 50/50 and again just try yo know where to look for them.

Just remember the questions in the exams are in chronological order, starting at the beginning and moving forward, sometimes you may have to go to the Appendices to get an answer and then come back to the section you where last at and carrying on.

Basically it good exam technique, don't get bogged down on questions you find difficult come back to them once you've gone through all the questions, and if you know the answer don't bother to try and look it up, and use the saved time for the more difficult questions.

Just passed mine a couple a days ago, as long as you go through the book thoroughly and do as many past papers as you can, you will be fine.
One guy who was on my course said he downloaded some mock software so its like the real test, sure he said he paid £15.

Down to knowing the layout of the book. What chapters cover what and know where the main reference tables are.

FYI I didn't think you were allowed to annotate the book (not sure why you shouldn't be); but folk seem to be doing it without any comment from the examiners, but be aware.

quote from c and g:
This is an open book assessment and candidates will be allowed to take in the following permitted
reference material:
• IEE Wiring Regulations BS 7671:2008
IEE wiring regulations books taken into examinations can contain the following:
• Bookmarks (eg blank post-it notes or corners of pages folded)
• Highlighting of text
• The Corrigendum, issued by the IEE as a supplement to the wiring regulations in July 2008.
