hi lads recently passed my 2394 and 2395 and am currently working cards in for a firm just wondered how i go about joining an approved scheme so i can do test and inspections out side of work and advice please

Inspection & Testing isn't 'Notifiable' work, so you don't need to inform the Local Council and you certainly don't need to join a scheme!

The only requirement is that you are 'Competent'.

Archy has it right, however if you are doing installations in domestic properties that are notifiable work then I would suggest checking the websites for the scheme providers you are interested in and seeing what their procedures are.

Approved competent persons schemes are:, Certsure (ELECSA and NICEIC), NAPIT, Stroma, Benchmark, BSI and also BESCA and OFTEC

so all you do is create a copy for the customer (who doesn't even know if it meets the requirements?) E.g if the electrician fails to spot a problem (dodgy spark) and the customer "thinks" they are ok with the results but they are not.

If it is an EICR then you are not even saying it is safe, you are saying it seems safe and you are only saying that about the bits you have agreed to inspect with the customer.
