How to Test Beam detectors

Hello I have a query if anyone can help me.
I Have been asked to test beam detectors,but cant find any equipment to do so.
I,ve heard that Fire alarm companies use a black bag with anodes in it to test these.
Is this a true statement.
Can I make one or buy one.
And What is the proper name for this piece of kit.

you just need a beam test card,its a basic plastic card with black dot/lines on to test the obscurity..

its an obscuration card,just tape it to your poles,or you could tape a bit of card and slowly move across the reciever.

Cover receiver with closed fingers - fault condition.
Cover with spread fingers - 50% obscuration -alarm condition
Wave spread fingers rapidly - will mimic heat shimmer if beam is designed to detect this.
To re assure client - buy card from makers.

not an easy job 30 ft up,and make sure no one is looking or they may think the hand gesture is aimed at them..:shades_smile:
