Hi, I qualified as an electrician in oct 2009 completing my 3 year apprenticeship, Im currently studying Electrical engineering at manchester met, but don't think the uni life is for me. I've been looking round at all the electrical job options and I think being an electrical field engineer would suit me perfectly!! What extra training would I need to do? Am I likely to get a job in this area?

Thanks alot!

engineer is a vastly over used word nowadayswould need to be more specific every man and his dog are calling themselfs engineers due to companys wanting to big themselfs up to customers ,what sort of work wer you fhinking of ?

thers always work in this area for someone whos reliable and dont rip people off and to be honest with the training you have so far would probably have most things covered you would need afairlyy baisic understanding of mecanics i am basically a spark with same formal as you (although i have been an engineer on a few occasion when it suited different compant lol) i have never outwardly advertised as a white goods engineer but never had aproblem with any of family and friends w machines cookers etc its not a complicated as it may sound on surface most faults are quite obvious when ya get stuff apart
