hi all

i did a niceic photovoltaic installer course about 3 months ago, and i am in the process of doing my first quote,

the system this customer wants is a 3.96kw ground mounted system, here is details of the installation.

3.96kw by 22 panel which are manufactured by bp and are 180w mono each.

The panels will be facing direct south with no shading at all as panels are ground mounted in a field.

the inverter will be with 4m of the panels

the ac cable run is 30m

they are home 50% of time

location is on the coast in dorset England

the system is going to cost ÂŁ13000 for materials

last year the customer used 5000 units of electricity

the mounting system can be adjusted between 10- 60 degrees or set at any of them

please help me work out the annual return for the customer, the reason this is so important is i need to give the customer the income they could earn from this system before he will let us start the work

any advise or reference will be great many thanks

Hiya - Im not going to work it out for you because its fairly straight forward and if your fresh from the course it shouldnt be too hard - but needless to say you need to be looking towards your SAP calc's for the annuel generation for the purposes of the quote - also look at the REAL website, they have model quote templates and these have formulas you can use to show the client what they can expect.

One thing you may not know (or i know for certain) is ground mount systems need planning consent **can anyone else please confirm**

thanks for the fast reply i will check all of that out asap,
The course i went on did not explain everything in full and it felt very rushed, and at the end of the course i told them everything needs to be explained in more detail

many thanks again

It seems to be a theme with training, i did mine at Ecoskies at it wasnt worth the paper it was written on that week i did mine.

What stage you at? you got MCS?

Planning permission is required for installs at ground level

Not all of them;

Standalone Solar Panels

The following limits apply to standalone solar panels:

Should be no higher than four metres
Should be at least 5m from boundaries
Size of array is limited to 9 sq m or 3m wide and 3m deep
Should not be installed within boundary of a listed building
In the case of land in a conservation area or in a World Heritage Site it should not be visible from the highway.
Only one stand alone solar installation is permitted.
