PIR done by an electrician from SELECT on 12 January 2012. Appears to have missed this as there was no mention of it in his report, nor numerous other defects I saw within 2 minutes of being in the property. Client tells me they watched him put the electrical tape over it to cover the fuse and I believe them. The report is shocking (no pun intended).

That person needs taking off the streets - you have no option but to report his work.

Not passed my inspetion and testing hope the exam is that easy but I bet its not some one who can walk away happy from that job must be mad.

nah. a bit if mini trunking lid and one of those spring clips, like you clip screwdrivers on wall fixtures in your shed, round the fuse.

It may have been irresponsible to just put a bit of tape over it and not mention it on the PIR but not as irresponsible as the idiot that left it like that in the first place.

I'll post a copy of the PIR and some photo's as soon as I get time.

Started the EICR yesterday. Nearly all the cables in the roof space are chewed through by vermin - bare copper!!

This is the previous PIR the client had obtained. Apologies for delay in posting. For confidential reasons I've blacked out the client details and the electrician.

The best part is the Zs and the R1 + R2 figures, I make that every circuit is virtually the same length give or take a cm or 2 between friends.

I think he didn't like to see a value exceed 1ohm for anything did he

This is absolutely disgusting! To think that there are people out there stupid and ignorant enough to certify that as satisfactory?

Remind me why we all spend thousands of pounds on training, registration and qualification updates again...

r! and rn 0.7 ohms ( 2.5mm ) r2 0.8 ( 1.0mm ) ....... can anyone smell fish?

1/ Cct 8 looks interesting......?

2/ Very high R1+R2s on almost all ccts........?

3/ Zs' more or less all the same......?

4/ IR values are very good for the age of the install.(20-30 years)..........?

I don't believe that the person who did this inspection on 12.1.12 would have passed this installation with the KMF fuse housing missing. It has to be a set up job.

Anyone spot the characteristics of main protective device...... he quotes the code of the main switch and not the incomming fuse.

I have to confess to having r2 less than r1 or rn in the past, this can happen if there are ,say 2 water heaters(low kw ones of course) for instance linked with copper pipe near the db where you are testing then the r2 will be lower. I say water heaters because at the moment i cannot think of anything else in metal contact forming a lower path of resistance.

I kid you not. I have not set this up. It's just what I found. The fuse cover was missing with part the bottom inside the unit.

BTW most of the wiring runs in the attic. Most of that has been chewed through by rodents. It didn't matter where I pointed the camera there was chewed through cables and loads of exposed copper on the conductors. I very much doubt their IR results would have come back OK

Ok, It could be that the inspection 'engineer' pulled and removed the fuse with carrier and then told the client to get it fixed. The client, or someone, decided to replace the fuse in the mean time ?

Also, the inspection may not have not included the attic ?

Well there's a bucket load of C2's and the most obvious couple of C1's.

It is, from what you have shown us a rewire pdq..........
