Discuss hv cables in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Depends where they are buried?? In area's subject to the presence of the general public, such as footpaths walkways etc, anywhere around 0.75+m was the old electric boards standard depth. Deeper if in agriculture settings where for example fields were subject to mechanically farrowing/plowing etc

thanks e54 would have thought it would of been deeper than 0.75m dosnt seem deeper enough

thought i seen or read somewere that it had to be 3m but ill trust your judgement

deeper than that if you want to stay out of the way of E54's earth rods.

GN 1 Table 5.2 guidance for recommended buried cable depth:- HV cables buried under footway/verge 400-600mm and carriageway 750mm, EHV cables buried under footway/verge or carriageway 750-1200mm.

Just goes to show the laxing off of the older standards. That figure you have shown, used to be (as near as dammit) for ducted networks under public footpaths and walkways etc!! I wonder if they even bother with ducting systems now!! ...lol!!

Why, .....no-one seems to bother past a single earth rod or twig in the UK these days!!:6:

It’ll take more than a copper rod to stop me biting you when I’m dead.

Solid gold or if you’re a cheapskate a straight bough of Yew driven through the heart when I'm buried face down.
