3 years ago i did not have grounding in my house, pls dont ask me why because its a long story and everything went well for maybe a year.

then one day i went to the kitchen and wanted to wash a glass.
as i touched the tap i got electrified :) or better said i got an electric shock.

now the question is how could this happen.
after all, charge must have been on the tap but it was completely insulated from all wiring besides maybe the piping but it too doesn't touch any wires except maybe the earth witch is regarded as neutral.

and i must add that the wiring for the grounding was all done all that was missing was a rod in the ground and a ground wire connected to it

ok guys i figured just now that must be because of the water heater whos chassis was not grounded and the chassis is ofcourse connected to the piping but now i dont know why the electricity did not go over the piping to the ground but instead rested on the taps or better said the piping

I take it your from the US / Canada due to your reference to grounding?

Not that it's an issue, we'll still try and help

current takes the route of least resistance - when you got shocked the route through your body must have been relatively easy/low resistance.

Think Pushrod's answer is what your looking for..... So have is your property now grounded??

the route through my body is certainly much more resistense then the metalic piping so it should have gone through it long before i touched it.

but then again i figure that they may have some isolation on the pipe somewhere along the way the central, or am i wrong?

quite possibly, maybe some ptfe tape on a radiator or compression joint could be it.
If a live cable was in contact with a copper pipe that was "grounded" you would most likely expect such a large current to flow that the circuit breaker/ fuse for that circuit would blow
