I am waiting for an assesment to join Competent Person Scheme. Do an inspector check if the jobs have been informed to building control? I mean, I do not feel like paying for it and do not feel like the person I did the job for pays. Let me know from experience what are the most important areas? My plan is to notify them once I am registered.

who are you going with?
elecsa will not require you to notify building control for the job you offer up for the assessment...
once you have been approved/accepted whatever onto their scheme...then you notify..through the scam..sorry scheme you have just joined...
this is elecsa...not sure about the NIC or napit though...

Not a good start if its notifiable you should have informed labc before you did the work its a legal requirement.
that said they don't normally check but do you want to take the risk they just might ask
Plus you can't notify work you did before you joined the scheme IMO it's just wrong

no. as i have rightly pointed out at #2....you do the work....then have the assessment....once you have been accepted...then you notify the job you did for the assessment through the scheme you have just joined...
to the O/P...do it this way...and save yourself the expense of having to notify LABC prior to undertaking the assessment

It is quite simple. The jobs has been done properly and perfectly wall according to the regs, I am just trying to make some nonsense costs to my client. And it is not about doing anything illegal because if it was about it I would not have paid the fee and would not care about the registration anyway. We all know there are ways to play a 100% registered electrician knowing nothing about it by scanning logos etc. It is just about them 2 jobs which I would register after my certification anyway. So do not start about a not a good start please.

as i says...check first with the scam provider....
theres no need to spend money if it can be avoided...is there....
i think this guy was just going on personal thoughts about it and heresay...and theres too much of that nonsense floating about in here of late...

If you feel you are competent and have done everything required then jsut register and notify the job should be notified within 30 days if your a member of a scam and if not then LABC should have been informed but in the real world register complete job day before hopefully pass the assessment then notify when your certifcate of registration and your log in details come usually less than 2 weeks so all done and notified within 30 days of completion

I checked it out with elecsa first contacted NIC a few times about there scheme and they were less than helpful so I chose elecsa as they are always willing to offer help and advice as and when you need it, even before i had given them my cash. were NIC it was fill the form and pay the fee basically and see if you pass
the scam fee is enough to pay never mind paying labc also
the requiremnts should have changed so that a 3rd party could sing it off but when questioning the schemes or JIB they dont have a clue and not sure when it will be implemented now because of warrantty provision

it worked for me mate so think it would work for you
I got an A on all my assessments congratulated on my work and design and when i had previously questioned labc they also didnt have a clue even though i had all required quals they just seemed interested in telling you how much it would cost in my case ÂŁ190 I informed them according to building regs as a qualified person i would I&T my own work and certifcate and send them a copy before they would decide what further action was needed or required or wether thay would just accept my results and certifcate before they issue a building completion cert ÂŁ190 for that yeah right whats the point of me testing it and certing for them to have to send someone else to check waste of time and money
Having to get labc involved should only be for DIY
so it was a no brainer paid elecsa registered completed job certficated passed and then notified job done and everyones happy
the scams and everyone else get enough of our money without offering them more they dont want responsibility thats why they are considering 3rd party Sign off and have reduced amount of notifiable jobs

same old though isn`t it carl...wherever they can smell cash....

yeah mate they have made it easier now for anybody to do the job without notifying so whats the point of being a member when everyone else isnt bothered are they going to introduce some other made up qual to bea 3rd party certifier along with the new quals to be a Qs of a domestic or commercial/industrial enterprise

well this thing about wether or not they were going to scrap part pis rattled em....thats why they introduced this `electrical safety register`...whatever the hell thats supposed to do...but they needn`t have worried though had they....as soon as it was all considered successful....

When i did my first assessment with ELECSA, i made the mistake of notifying it and paying the LABC. The assessor was mighty annoyed that it had cost me the money and that no-one had told me to notify it afterward. So theres your answer.......
