at least it's ceramic!
 
I got into a conversation with a Napit inspection when I was in London getting assessed, he approved off the plant pot theory under certain circumstances (no living accommodation above etc). I don't see what benefit it's doing here mind? Unless they are expecting a load of insulation dumped on top of it.
 
Don't shout too much! But was told on a part p course(few moons ago) that this was a recommended method when dealing with large amounts of insulation!!
 
Nothing wrong in using the good old ceramic flower pot!! ...Just so long as it's big enough, this one shown in the photo, clearly isn't ...lol!!
 
Agree with above, that pot isn't big enough but I've seen this loads of times before. Even done it myself years ago. It was a simple cheap and easy way of keeping insulation off the fittings.
 
Beat me to in Engineer way to small but on the whole bigger are acceptable In fact probably a lot better than comparable after market solutins given their rigidity and they wouldnt squish under 450mm of finest fiberglass
