Saw this going up from my office window today:



I can only hope it's going to be resited when things calm down - the panels are actually almost overlapping so will shade all but the front ones until around midday at midsummer! And they seem to be held on with some bent metal at the bottom and middle of the short sides - it can get quite windy around here!

Doesn't appear so - I've checked the local planning register online - clearly over 200mm above roof level! The garage backs onto an unlit lane so I'd be worried about theft too! Also facing closer to East than South for some odd reason.
