Sorry i am long in the tooth and am a bit confused about your 6 post rule.do i have to post 6 before i can read or pm other members?

Welcome to the forum Panzee, I've moved your thread to the new members intros area for you.

There is a 6 post requirement to allow use of the PM system, it's an anti-spam measure to stop spammers joining and immediately mass PMing members with affiliate links and other such rubbish. As a new member you have full access to all the usual forums, it's just the messaging system that's restricted.

Just have a look at your name in the posts and this tells you how may posts you have (2 at the moment), posts in chit chat - off topic do not count.
However you can start all the posts you need, just choose the appropriate section of the forum.

I don't think you get a notification but I'm not entirely sure to be honest.

If you feel you really need the PM system you can always make a few welcome posts on the intro threads started by other recent new members. New Member Introductions - Electricians Forums
