Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forum having trawled the internet for a bit of advice regarding an ice cream freezer set up I am planning. I have bought a freezer which was hard enough to find in terms of the correct size - it is here: Vestfrost IKG 205 Glass Lid Display Chest Freezers

It has come with a 2 pin plug and is 13amp, 180 watt input. I actually have no idea what that means bear in mind. I also read 50 hz. The location I am planning to use this freezer has no access to electricity - I planned to run it by battery (with solar power charging it) or as my last resort a super silent generator. The 2 pin plug has stumped me. I bought it from a uk company and thought it would be a simple uk plug.

The battery situation would be my most ideal if they can charge it for long periods throughout the day. Ideally whilst my ice cream bike is on-site I would have another battery charging at home, to swap at the end of the shift so that the freezer would constantly run through the night in the trailer. My mechanic thought perhaps I might need 2 batteries. I'd really appreciate if anyone can give me some advice on this subject as I truly do not have any experience or knowledge in the area.

Thanks in advance,

Philip

i would of assumed it's the larger schuko on a class 1 appliance

the europlug would be light electronics afaik:eek:

the battery /inverter will be tricky to keep running-180watts would need 360amp hours at 12v(for 1 day) if my calcs are anyway accurate

im not sure why they did! I was going to ring and complain but theyre closed! I think ill be posting them the bill for changing the plug or getting the adapter. In terms of simplicity i think it would be better to rewire - is that possible ok? would mean one less piece to go wrong when on-site.

davelerave - i have no idea what schuko means? or light electronics? When you say tricky to keep running what do you mean? would i need a huge battery or would it run out quick? perhaps the generator seems the best choice then? simple plug in for power? still would prefer silence though and a bit more environmentally minded! liked the idea of using solar to charge the battery(ies) if the cost wasnt extreme
