Hi all.
I was hoping I could get your thoughts and/or ideas about the following little problem.
I have to install a light above a new range cooker. the cooker is to be sited in an alcove with about 750mm clearance from hob to light. I was thinking about IP44 GU10 spotlights. Does anyone have any thoughts about this or better ideas? Please help.

Thanks in advance.
Steve

There is a hood already in place that they want removed (they never use it apparently). I'm thinking that other than steam, hence IP44, the main problem is heat. The cooker is an electric one so I'm thinking that the radiant heat should be less than from a gas hob.

To be honest thinking about it the chances are most lights would be ok 750mm above the cooker. When the OSG refer to switches it just states not directly above, so what that means is open to guess.

I suppose the type of sealed light you put in a bathroom would be as good as any, would be a great trade this if it wasn't for customers

Dont buy GU10 bulbs they are rubbish and will keep blowing I think they have been manufactured like this so re-sells continue I must have spen a fortune on my kithen bulbs of which I have 15 and change a bulb every week
