In the electrical Industry today, I think I WOULD take an short course, pay my money, and go out and earn money, not really understanding what I was doing. The age of I want it NOW, no I don't think so.!!

i think that the electrical industry is sh-ite
i left school @ 15 did a 4 y appren-- £8-00 a week to start- couldnt afford a pot to pi-ss in
some of my mates went into flat roofing@ the same time drove yank cars got the best women

meanwhile i rode a bicycle,

To be fair, given the build quality of a yank car, I too would have chosen the bicycle.

Never ever thought of changing anything to be honest!! The sector of the electrical industry i finally chose, i've thoroughly enjoyed and still enjoying though alas not for too much longer. It has sent me around the world, including to places most would never see, and given me a more than acceptable standard of living.

The only thing i can think of the top of my head that i would change, is dumping my registration with the IET whom i lost all faith in, in favour of registering with CIBSE!! lol!!

My career path has been a bus ride from being conventional, but i would not have it any other way. I was told,as a lad,to only maybe regret the things you did not do,never the ones you did.
Most of the alternative careers suitable for myself, belong to another era.
I think i may have made a crackin "Witch Finder General",as nearly all the celebrities i judged as "wrong uns'",going back a LONG while, have since been proved to be so....now,there's just mr.blobbies puppet master...and i have a full set...

What sector did you finally choose E54?

Project construction management....

Mainly in the construction of major hospital complexes, such as i am working on now. But i have also worked on other major construction projects such as HK's MTR, Singapore's MTR, Libya's GMMR, Large multi floor shopping malls in the Middle east, and one in the UK, etc etc.....

Sounds very interesting.
I did my electrical apprenticeship while working for a specialist AV company. On reflection i was clearly taken on so they could pay me cheaply as the apprenticeship and NVQ etc was very difficult. When i had enough of their company i left and set up my own electrical business mainly doing domestic (crap) work but i do sub contract to a few other companies doing specialist work.

I have only done domestic work seriously for a couple of years but i have already had enough! I have been looking at other options and i have a few ideas, it's interesting to see what disciplines other people specialise in.

the firm im with specialize in bms and door access, seem to do a bit of everything though.

ive done enough stuff that i would have a good crack at building my own home (leave the foundations and external walls and roof to the professionals)
