Ignore list

Can someone please explain the "ignore list " option and how it works. ie if I put PaulM on ignore (used paulM as I know he will understand its just for example) Will I not see any of his replys and him none of mine?
If I did it as a trial and undo it will the posts re-appear?
Obviously the next question would be quotes of the ignored person by other members would they be visible.

That's basically how it works, yes. Anyone you ignore, instead of their post, you see a short one-line message saying you have ignored that person.

It is undo-able.

If you're trying it out on Paul, probably best get the right one: Paul.M Try it on me if you like. I won't be offended. I won't even know.

EDIT: to answer your other query: when others (who you are not ignoring) quote someone that you are ignoring, yes you can see the bit of their post that is quoted.

I can certainly think of at least one who has me on their list, he doesn't seem to come on here anymore though, used to follow me around constantly when he did.

Experiment on me. Put me on your ignore list via your control user options. Then tell me when you have done it and I'll post up on this thread,,,,, see what the outcome is? You cant see what ever posts I make on any thread but I can see yours.
