illeagl raves / free parties call them what you will. theyre happening up and down the country every saturday ..groups of friends gathering together in secret locations with somtimes smll somtimes very big sound systems with the intention of dancing the night away untill the early hours. now altough these events are usually unliceneced and obviously illegal ( in the eyes of the law) they are usually attended by law abiding citizens from all walks of life .......

so i ask this what are ur experiences of these events ..i want to hear both posative and negative ..have u been and had a great night :D or have u ben disturbed by these layabout hippies who need to wash more often and should grow up and get a job .....

c'mon i know im not the only one .....perhaps ou have an opinion of the way they are policed...either not enough or far to heavily handed......

GO!!!

I would imagine that the site does not fully comply with the Regs and would would not attend such event;)

Right, where did I leave my horlicks.

Oh lord, I remember the early 90's (or was it late 80's) rave scene, thanks for making me feel old!
Back then I was all up for it and couldn't see any harm in it.
Now I'm older I can see all the problems and pitfalls, but mostly think it shouldn't happen because I'm too old to join in!

i used to work with a lad in my apprentice days and his mates parents went away on jollies and left the farm to be looked after by neighbours etc. i think the local rag said something along the lines of '250 people decend upon a small yorkshire farm for an all night rave'

R.I.P. turnmills - the best of such as ferry corsten, tiesto and the man himself, Mr tall pall newman

GO!!![/QUOTE

i have been to many raves and still go to at least once a month normally more now i normally go to legal raves like raindance or moondance but i still like to go to illegal raves as long as they still have some organisation and the music is good as to the man that says the raves wont comply with the latest regs thats not true i have wired a few raves up and i tested and certificates all of the electrics used just because its not liceneced does not mean they are unsafe and shouldnt be unsafe

as to the way they are policed i have always found the police to be quite good they normally let them go on unless the are unsafe or there is trouble i went to one in manchester in a warehouse they let everyone rave until the end on the agreement that when to music stopped everyone was polite and quite when they left

They're very much prevalent! My mate is involved with a big one up north. As with all things, some are done well, some are done badly/disrespectfully.

Some of the big reasons they exist in my opinion:
Allow total control of the music, which is a big deal to many. People hate generic crap you hear in clubs.
The industry is expensive; to open a club or even host a night in a club is risky and expensive.
Many people who attend want to safely take drugs without reprimand, not something you can do in a legal setting.
I'd imagine the risk/danger element probably makes it an exciting prospect.

Many of the people I know who go live perfectly respectable lives, some with kids, many are older than your average club-goer and just like to get lairy once in a while!

The police have been cracking down on them in london town. Towards the end of last year and the beginning of this year most of the squat parties/warehouse raves I was interested in got busted more than once in the night as organisers tried to move to backup venues no.1 or 2 or even 3 the police seemed to be 1 step ahead in many cases. A lot of folks blamed Scumaween as apart from the all the negative press it made the met boys look a little silly for allowing such a large illegal event to go ahead in central london.
Nevertheless went to a pretty good squat party just off of coldharbour lane a little while ago. The place is now rubble so at least it was put to some good use before demolition!
