Hi

Im new to the site and came across it while looking for some information on what qualifications are needed to work as a lv cable jointer.

Basically i have worked as a jointers mate for the last 3 years with a company and had no problems at all. Recently i was sent to work with a different jointer and it soon became apparent the guy was an idiot !!!

To cut a long story short we work in a different area to where we live and the guy who owns the company apparantly sent a few of his lads to sit trade tests even though they were only mates because we were going out of the area!!

Three of the lads passed and are now working on lv cables. I spoke to one of them and was told that because they passed the trade test there is nothing anyone can do about it.

I am really worried about working with these guys now and was wandering really is it true that they can no work despite no training and is this even legal?

If it isnt what should i do and who do i report this sought of thing to, obviously cant go to my boss because he,s in on it !!

Sorry for rambling but really worried !!

Hi,

Thanks for your help, was already thinking the HSE. Am i right in thinking that these guys shouldnt be working then? Dont want to look stupid by reporting it if they are covered by the trade test !!
