Greetings, Before you ask I am an electrician but i'm stuck in maintenance at the moment and my top 10 FM firm still hasn't paid for my 17th edition and as this job is install work I would like to make sure i'm not breaking any regs.

I have a 20ft container and we are to install a 2 way fuseboard, 1 double socket, and a 2x70w light fitting. I'm going to use 4mm armoured from a board around 50 metres away and it will be supllied with a 20A circuit breaker. The armoured will be in tray the whole way to the container with a drop down a concrete wall on it's way inside the container, cable tye's and cleats will be used in accordance with the regulations. There will also be an isolater before the cable enters the container.

I would like to know if a 20Amp circuit breaker is acceptable as it's going to be feeding a mini Distribution Board. If this is not acceptable what's the maximum current carrying capacity a 4mm armoured can take? (terrible I know but no regs on site all we have is a guide to the 17th edition). I'm asking because i've got a feeling the minimum size used to feed a D.B is 10mm. Also I assume the metal container will need seperate earthing is this correct? and what size would I use?

All of your thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated I have my own ideas of how it should be done and if it'a was up to me I would not bother trying to save the pennies and use bigger cable and bigger sized breakers to ensure safety and less complications for future projects, but unfortunately the world is poor and I work for a local London council so they only have money to spend on training courses for people who don't need training and all the rest go's on sandwiches and mercedes.

I would run in a 6mm to account for the volt drop. put x1 16A RCBO in for the double socket and a x1 6A RCBO for the lighting. Not forgetting to bond the container with say a 4mm off the top of my head that may be wrong. The cleating and the cable tying and the isolator all sound good, I'm sure others will differ what earthing system is it at the existing dis board?.

One point is that a TNCS earth cant be used for a portable unit, TNS is ok, otherwise you will have to separate the earth and spike.
