How's about this for a bit of shocking workmanship!!! I was called out to this today and to say I am furious is a understatement. This is a 6kw immersion heater on a Local authority site. Electrical works should only be carried out by qualified / accredited electrical contractors! How many faults can you see from the attached pictures?
1 - Wrong type of MCB fitted
2 - 20 amp DP isolator (Immersion load 26amp)
3 - 4kw load contactor for 6kw load
4 - Thermostats 16amp switching 26amps!!!
5 - No certification for works carried out

Our company was called out to investigate the complaint of no domestic hot water!

We being a SELECT contractor with qualified SJIB Electricians more than can be said for the muppets/contractor that have installed the wiring for the 4 new 6kw immersions!

Oh its terrible! Trouble is nobody cares, if the local authority are letting works like that go on in their own propertys then they obviously don't care about what goes on in properties that aren't there's part P is a joke, it needs to be scrapped!

Yes Part P has always been a TOTAL joke. What we need is to be the same as the GAS SAFE registered contractors- I.E. Electrical SAFE! Why is it fine to kill someone with incompetent persons installing hazardous electrical installs, yet the GAS industry has their trade well covered ?

mind you you see it all the time....crap work done by incompetant person`s....
quite a lot of 1s n 2s are recent DIY/incompetants work...not the original install....
i`v carried out ECRs on 15 ed installs and found them still good for continued service....but the `add onns`....lol...
