hi everyone
3 phase mains coming into building split 1 phase for each of thee 3 flats. now 2 flats are converted into one and rewired my question is do i still use 2 phases for 2 fuse board to balance the load or do i use 1 phase and leave another one unused
any thoughts well appreciated

To be honest though not ideal I would rather have a spare phase on the system than having 400 volts in a domestic situation.

As it is now 2 flats, from 3 could you use that 3rd phase for communal areas, though it won't have the same load, it will still have some load on it.

Also it will enable you to use the one CU for the property rather than using the 2 just to use 2 phases.

You have the option of using only one phase (per flat leaving the third redundant) or you can have the DNO come out to change the service to a two phase supply. Mainly you need to make sure the neutral conductor size will suffice if you're to settle for the first option as I don't think it's going to be easy balancing 3 phase with 2 flats. Cheers

good advice sparks about the neutral size but I would imagine in a domestic situation it will be the same size as the LINE, but your right you need to make sure as it will be unbalanced, it can carry that load.

Once you start calling the DNO you can actually hear the pound signs rattle up over the phone lol, so I would try and utilise the 3rd phase for communal
