morning all, stopped to have a look at a job last night and the customer has a domestic induction hob to be fitted ( model ind60t ) no wiring diagram or installation details. the hob has a 5 core cable pre-wired

earth
blue
brown
black
grey

never come across this before ,has anyone got any idea of wiring these up?

think you'll find it' can be wired 3 phase. you need to find out the rating ( KW ) to determine your cable/MCB ratings. i assume you would link brown/black/grey for single phase. best check with manufacturer ( indesit? )

That's fairly normal with the induction hobs however usually the brown, black, grey and blue have terminals crimped on the ends so you end up with 2 pairs of connections. Have these connectors been cut off? From memory brown and black were joined and grey and blue were joined but please don't take this as gospel as it was December since i last connected one up. The last one was a 5 ring Bosch hob which sat happily on a 32A supply with a separate oven on it too. Gotta love diversity! :D

Call the maunfacturer (or look on their web site) and get a copy of the installation instructions. Anything else is madness

Definitely get a copy of the installation instructions, and if you do speak to the manufacturer treat any verbal advice on the phone with caution as the chances are you'll be speaking to someone who hasn't got a clue!

i've come acroos similar. in the ones i've seen, you have terminals marked L1,L2,L3 & N. this is for 3 phase operation. but as said before by me and others, makers instructions are bestr way forward. without seeing it, we are only able to guess.
