Hello im hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. Iv completed a 4 year apprenticeship working in the automotive industry as an electrical maintenance technician and my qualifications will be up to HNC in Electrical Engineering in the next few months. I work daily regularly on lighting circuits and moving/installing sockets. Where do i stand if for example i get asked to do the same jobs but domestically? I am asked frequently to do these jobs but my understanding is i would need 17th edition and then everything would need to be inspected unless i had part p. Then iv just neen told depending what other qualifications you have you may not need this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

as long as you are competent to undertake domestic electrical work, there's nothing to stop you. only thing is the notifiable works under part p of the building regs. basically, this covers new circuits, CU changes, and any work in bathrooms. smaller jobs like additions to circuits etc., are not notifiable.
