Hi,

General cable query.

Is it ok to use normal flex cable where it is installed above head height ie not easily accessible or should we be using something with more protection ie SY cable??. We are talking low ampage applications (1-5a) in a pretty low haz environment.

regards

What type of environment is it....warehouse, factory etc.

I'm not keen on using boggo flex (unprotected) anywhere except a domestic install.

In conduit for example would be ok or as you suggest SY.

Its in a factory - runs from a light control panel up into the apex - its not pinned to the wall but is layed in the steel roof structure.

ive used it for low voltage suff eg 12-24 v

We have a large amount of automated production lines inside restricted caged areas. Its impossible to wire these with SY or armoured, so lots of 3Phase flex is used - low ampage stuff only like conveyors. The cables are placed in trays along the floor but in some areas this isnt possible either - so assuming there is no traffic and restricted personnel only I assume flex can be used more or less anywhere.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for your input - in our environment (see previous reply) its sometimes not possible to use anything else.
