Hi,

I have booked a 17th edition exam that will be taken on 19/04/2014. I study and practice a lot on the context of the book and ElectaCourse simulator a lot, the average percentage i get is between 90-98.

Can somebody help me who has already passed the exam. I am confused on the requirements for the exam. I have already bought an IET green book that i study on too. If anyone knows better in this respect please help me, it will be appreciated.

Thank you

you get 60 questions. all the answers are in BS7671 to look up. you should be able to do at least half without even opening the bgb. flag those you are not sure of, then go back to them.anything that is going to take more than about 1 minute to look up or calculate from a formula, leave till last. the pass mark os about 80% or 48 right out of 60.

Its an open book exam mate, you take the IET green book with you, you should have already had a copy prior to booking the exam, I take it from your OP that you are NOT doing the course, correct?

All the answers are in the book, which you take in with you. When I did it all the answers were in order so you can just work your way through the book.
It's not really a test in electrics, more a test in looking stuff up in a book.

On the course I was on there was a bloke that was retaking for the 4th time. After finding out he failed again he went to reception to book yet another retake and tried booking himself on the 2394, 2395 and 2396. The college wouldn't even take his money!

Do some of the free online tests. Get used to using the book. After doing this I passed mine easy enough.
