Two starter references:
Back in 1992 eiema introduced a development of the IP code system. One added code reference gave addition credit to second levels of internal barriers within pieces of equipment (which would be able to give protection while still enabling ventilation) and another code reference gave further information on the context within which an accessory might be used.

A rival system of IP codification uses the third digit of IP - Ingress Protection Ratings in relation to impact protection.

I guess its when pieces of equipment get smashed up that impact protection becomes most relevant to ingress and, perhaps, a working and workable clasification system for impact protection should fit in somewhere.
