injector electrical problem tdci

R

renagiw

Hi i am new. Had a problem for a while now with intermittent fault on tdci 1.8 focus. It sometimes judders and sometimes white smoke. I have already replaced 1 injector to no avail.
I have had leak off tests done and it shows all is fine. Could this be the wiring loom, how would i check it or would i need an expert. Thank you

Ford diesels are known for the fuel problems, first task is to plug in a diagnostic lead & software, and check for any fault codes in the history. Main faults will be , turbo, fuel pump, injectors, airmap sensor, camshaft sensor and egr valve.

No faults showing on diagnostic test, egr is blanked off its a mystery, seems worse in damp weather to me, sometimes runs fantastic for 5/600 miles then has an off day.

When you say no faults shown, is this handheld unit or full ford pro software...?...Software will show faults now and a fully history of previous faults

Its been checked on a garage code reader it shows up an egr orobkem but that gas geen blanked off, i have changed fuel filter twice air filter etc.

If your EGR has been blanked off,is your ECU receiving correct feedback from that device? EGR should only function till up to temp, and operating/leaking under load, will usually give black smoke. Might i suggest a real-time code read using a quality analyzer with individual sensor parameter check capability. Also,a model specific forum may be of greater benefit.

As you say some analyzers are not worth the juice it takes to power them. White smoke is usually to much air / fuel starvation. forget all modern gadgets , diesels need the balance however they get it.
