Hello everyone, was speaking to a qualified electrician who was giving me advice as a rookie. We were talking about an eicr which he just done on a house and was talking about section G (declaration)of the report.

He said that anybody whom is competent may carryout the report however ONLY a person who has 2394 and 2395 (testing and inspecting) qualifications can sign the "report authorised for issue by" section!& if a person without these qualifications signs that part they CAN GO JAIL??

So basically if a person carries out a eicr report who is not got these qualifications then he/she would need to get the report theyv just done signed off by a sparky who has 2394 2395?

No, that is not the case.
There is no requirement in BS7671 for anyone to be qualified.

Competent not qualified, 2391/4/5 would be a good example of being able to show competency.

Far as i understand it, that you dont need them qualifications. That NICEIC/Napit etc say yes they can do it.

Ive not done any EICR yet myself, tho i do hold the qualifications, but as far as i know.
Just need 17th and some Level 3 installations to be a part of one of the governing bodies
