Hi lads and lassies,

I recently started a new job as Inspection and Testing manager of a local company. One of my tasks is to keep an eye on previous PIR's/EICR's and when they are due for 're-testing' to generate work. I was wondering if any of you have come across software that would notify when certain jobs are due to be tested? I could whip out Excel and create a table, but that would be extremely laborious considering the amount of clients my employer has! Any and all ideas are welcome! :)

Hi sparkymalarky

Im not aware of any specific software however I developed something for a large building firm that could be amended for this purpose.

What format are the PIR's/EICR's in? Are they PDF's or data files from some 17th edition software?

If the former it is possible to get a program to read through all the documents, analyse the customer details and re test date and then inject the information into something like outlook, this would then give you reminders of when the PIR's are due. Alternatively it could just create a database or spreadsheet with them in.

If the latter then I would have to investigate the way the program stores it data.

Hi patdev,

Thanks for getting back to me! The files are a mixture from various sub-contractors etc. If they were all the same format, Amtech for example I would just use the facility within Amtech to do this but unfortunately I can't. Stumped!

What formats are they in other than Amtech? Most document types can be read fairly easily by a utility.

If you email some examples I could have a quick look to see if it's possible to read and analyse them and get out the retest date etc. Let me know and i'll pm you my email.

Patdev,

unfortunately I cannot e-mail them to you as all of the testing engineers have them on their laptops etc. They range from Amtech, megger software, iCertify, Easycert etc. Im merely looking for some system that I can enter raw data into, and it will organise sites according to when their next EICR is due to be carried out if you get my drift!

Cheers!
