Hi all. I've been offered a contract fitting these electric car charging units in folks garages. The money on offer seems quite good and it looks relatively simple to install the unit itself However a friend of mine who is an electrician for Scottish gas said I should watch as these unit require an earth spike. In which case the price of material would easily double as well as the time it would take to install the spike. I was just wondering if anyone else has any experience fitting these units and could advise.

Cheers

Al.

Thanks sintra, I couldn't find anything in the regs book and that is why. Cheers.

Snowhead- yeah too true. From what the guy I'm dealing with had said he had claimed they were just wired from a spur off of the domestic ring or garage socket. Although looking at sec 722 I see that is not the case. So perhaps not as simple as had been made out.

Donk- they are 16A/32A Rolec wallPod.
