Hi everyone, looking for some advice or knowledge on DNO approval. I’ve gone to sign up for export with Octopus. On the application form they’ve asked for MCS number (supplied) and also a letter to DNO however the Installer it appears to have forgotten to do something as they can’t get it and I’ve been waiting a month, in the meantime exported 150kWh of energy back to the grid for naff all. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on usual timescales for this, or if this looks like a mistake by the installer not applying? Lastly if anyone knows what 150kWh would equate to in monetary value for export? Cheers disgruntled customer

Under the terms of Octupus smart export guarantee tariff customers are currently paid 4.1p/kWh, which would equate to ÂŁ6.15 for units. The deal you're signing up to may be different, but I'd imagine they'll tell you how much will be paid for export.

There are different routes that depends on what setup you have got. There is G99 which is apply and connect, in which case installer should receive permission before install and that can takes few months. Then there is G98, which is connect and notify, in which case installer will notify DNO within 28 days and you should have dno confirmation back within month or so. Lastly we have G99 fasttrack which can bo both connect and notify or apply and connect. In both cases they aim to respond within 10 days. If your installer was the one to deal with all paperwork ask him to sort it
