I want to power some load in my house (refrigerator, freezer, a few fans, and lights) with my generator. It is large enough for the loads I listed. I have previously just run standard extension cords all over the house from the generator outside get this done. It's a pain.
So, I bought the interlock appropriate for my panel, and will pay an electrican to do the install it and an appropriate power inlet box. It provides for shutting off the main breaker, then safely closing in the generator breaker and powering the house with a generator.
My generator has both a 120V 30-amp 3-prong and a 120/240V 20-amp 4-prong receptacles. Which one should I ask him to wire up for the panel feed?
