hi I have a studio which has two lights from one switch on the cieling . I have just installed a daylight strip lamp but is to bright for normal use other than when painting . Is there a way to put a further switch in to independently switch this light off and leave the other on . Ive checked the switch at the wall just the one cable going in The other light one cable going but the daylight has two cables going to the fitting

option 1 is to put the strip light on a plug, so you can switch it on/off as required. option 2 is to get an electrician to wire it into a second light switch which would probably involve chasing walls and making good after. option 3 is a smart solution like Quinetic switchlng.

The simplest and cheapest solution would be to fit a ceiling cord operated switch right beside the strip lamp, with the cord shortened to just over six feet from the ground.
You wouldn't be able to just have the strip lamp on without the other light, but, if I understand want you want, that isn't a problem.
