Hello Sparkies and Sparkettes.

Carrying out a IR tests I got a reading from the upstaris light (1.1 ohms) but could not get a reading of the downstairs lights, even though all bulbs were out and switches off. I could get no other reading from the other MCB's either e,g Ring, Shower, Cooker etc etc.
Actually, I left a bulb in a bedroom upstairs would that have made a differance?

Can you help? A Kinder surprise for most sarcastic answer, but a decent answer would also be great.

Cheers

You must have got a "reading" of some sort, e.g. 0.0 from whatever test meter you were using?

I used a KT35 - a Continuity and Insulation tester. Recenlty Calibrated.
As I say I got a reading from the upstairs lights but not from any other MCB.
All MCB's were off.
All light/sockets were switched off. All light bulbs out, aprt from one I accidently left in bedroom ceiling light.
It was as if I was not testing, but the upstairs lights were fine..??!!??!! No readings.

How are you carrying out the tests?

Would you like to walk us through it so we can get some idea of a) what you're doing and b) where you're going wrong?

In Norfolk, the phrase is "more betterer" ;)
I think you'll find you Norfolk gadgies stole that from the Geordie folk. Earl Grey, to whom there is a bloody big statue of in the fair city of Newcastle, was known to have explored the nether regions of doon yor way and when he found his way out was heard to use the phrase for the first time in recorded history "Aye, aam oot o there, that's more betterer"

NB much of what is spoken of as proven historical fact is made up on the spot :)
