Insulation Resistance readings!!!

I have a fluke 1651 and some reading come out as <500 and others give readings in mega ohms. I take <500 as acceptable and anything above 2 mega ohms an acceptable level as well. Can someone explain the difference in readings to me please?

I'm guessing that 500Mohms is the upper range of your tester (check the info that came with it). Mine for example is 300Mohms (1552).

cool. Makes sense but would 8 Mohms be a concern as it's a much lower reading? OSG gives anything under 2 Momhs as something that needs further investigation but seems a large gap. Thanks for reply.

Depends what circuits are giving the 8MOhms reading. Note it on the test certificate. I take it that was >500MOhms (meter maxed out).

You would be right in saying that.
