insulation resistance test

if i take a spur off the ring main and fit an additional twin socket where do i carry out the insulation resistance tests for this new socket?
is it back at the fuse board for the whole of the ring main circuit which my new socket is part of or is the test carried out at the new socket position between conductors before i fit the socket?

You need to IR test the final ring circuit that you have installed the spur !!

low resistance ohm meter.

step 1...test end to end...L to L (r1). N to N (rn). E to E (r2)

step 2...cross connect L and N. Measure resistance at each socket between L and N (r1 + rn / 4).

step 3...cross connect L and E. Measure resistance at each socket between L and E (r1 + r2 / 4) this equals R1 + R2.

your talking insulation resistance, ive just typed about continuity of conductors, sorry.

just do the l-n,l-e,n-e on circuit conductors or can do on main conductors but this require full isolation
