Hi, is there a list anywhere of fixed equipment that is vulnerable to IR testing eg could an electric shower be vulnerable? Also what code would you give a double socket and a single socket on the same unfused spur on an old installation - was this ever allowed on any older versions of the regs?

cheers

Hi pushrod, I dont think there is a list but a shower is vulnerable to the IR test as is all curent using equipment. If they dont get damaged during the test, you will get inacurate readings from them anyway so best to dissconect them or if your doing a PIR, connect Line/Neutral together and test to earth. Not sure about the skts though dont know much about the old regs. Maybe one of the, lets say more mature guys;) on here can hep you with that but it would need changing I would put it as 2 but others might not.

Hope this helps

Any item with an electronic component inside will be vulnerable to L-N IR testing due to the DC used in the test, best always to remove from circuit.

Are you saying in the other bit that a twin and single socket are supplied from a 13A USFS??? if so then cant really see a problem with that other than the max drawn by the 3 outlets will be no more than 13A???

Cheers Lenny mised the bit about the unfused spur.
As Lenny said if its a 13A USFS then it should be ok. No code required.

apologies if not clear - meant spur from a spur, double socket then a single. It should have an 13A FCU put in if it was done today. As Jay said, was thinking code 2 but was not sure if it had ever been allowed - could be 30+ years old.
