Hello

Can anybody please advise me if i am able to set up a dummy rig to simulate a Insulation resistance fault, this rig would only ever be used for dead testing and never made live, i have done testing on appliances and circuits at home which all came back with readings of the scale but i am hoping to get a low result on a simulated rig to reasure myself that i am conducting the test correctly.

If its possible please could you advise how to simulate this fault.

Thanks Ricky

Hi mate yes you can all you would have to do is set up a radial circuit and on the last bit ensure that live and earth are touching. If you want to have this so that it does not show put a switch in before the fault.

Hope that helps

Chris

The other thing you can do is have a switch in your circuit that has a neon light in it that will screw your results and the test to overcome that is live and neutral together on one clip and earth on the other which will give you a correct reading but as always that one involves more money.

beat me there, mrenigma, was going to suggest buying a few cheap resistors say in the range 1k to 10M, then measuring them.
