Insulation resistance

Hi can you please tell me in idiot form how is best to do a insulation resistance test and what results I should expect thanx

The best thing you can do is get a lenght of cable of your own and then at 500v setting

test live to neutral
test live to cpc
test neutral to cpc


Then if you have any neons or sensitve equipment that cannot be disconnected from the circuit clip live and neutral together on one clip earth to the other clip and test that way it wont damage anything.

The test on your cable with give you the results you want from real tests.
