have my 2392 exam coming up. not sure when as was supposed to be tonight but it has been cancelled due to some kind of balls up at the college.they reckon they are gonna do it next monday instead. that's right bank holiday easter monday. when they realise i'm sure i'll get my 3rd phone call on the matter.

anyway. i have just had a thought.when you test for insulation resistence on the 2way lighting circuit you have to operate the switches to test the strappers.do you do this when testing phase to nuetral or phase to earth?????????????????

that's good enough for me.the tutor told us to do it but he only told us to do it on either P-N or P-E and i couldn't remember which.i thought about both but didn't want to get a fail.he's been pretty harsh with the others so far.

No matter how harsh he may be he cannot fail you for doing more than you have to if its only needed on one and you do both then you are being extra vigilant do only one and its the wrong one he will no doubt fail you. After the money and time you have invested is it worth risking a fail for 2 minutes work. I dont think so.

Good luck

I suppose your tutor told you to test P-E only because you don't generally run a neutral down with the strappers. However, what Chris says is spot on. They can't fail you for being vigilant when it takes only a matter of moments extra.

How do you go on with switching the switches do you switch one then test then switch the other then test?

Hi mate,

Test as it stands first, then (for each two way circuit), switch one of the two way switches once only and test again - that's it, strappers tested:)

If you have an intermediate in the circuit, you would then switch the intermediate once, and test again.

Hope that helps
