I posted a few months ago about this bit a kit and got a bit of disbelief feedback ie load a crap etc, well a Spanish inspector turned up with it again today. He has had it over a year and not a problem he tests most of the week so it gets a bit a use reckons the protective box was naff but the rest he cant fault. Not saying go out and buy one or saying its a megger or kewtech but the bloody thing works !!!!!!!!!!

Guys your missing the point im trying to make ! same thing 300 quidish more to comply with whatever number you need it to comply with. Do you think there are 300 quid extra components in the megger for example, just to make it comply with all your rules n regs?
You seem to be paying a lot to comply and having calibration done ...............Dont you think the rules/Rulemakers in the UK are taking you for a ride. All these numbers that are quoted on the forum to do with the 17th Ed seems like OVERKILL (Personally)
Yes we have regs here plus testing which is very similar to UK BUT all this yearly calibration etc just seems a bit much I try my test stuff for example on my home if the results are the same as last time then its working or if im on a job and the readings seem wrong then time to look at my equipment. We are not wrong you are not right its different, but looking in from far away it seems like its gone OTT which seems to be the norm in the UK. you do seemed bogged down with paperwork and regs.

If I produced a previously unheard of meter at our annual technical assessment, I can guarantee our assessor will want to see BS compliance before he asks what we paid for the meter!

I agree with your point regarding calibration and we also carry out regular checks on known values.

The bottom line is, in the UK we dance to the tune of our scheme providers whether we like it or not.

Suppose were lucky in that way here . lot more tolerent here thank god

I'll tell you what, if I could get a really cheap MFT, for example, I would use it all the time. I've got my 'spensive MFT which I would leave at home, I test it's calibration weekly, and I could easily test the cheap one's alongside it to make sure it's not going out of whack. Bring the expensive one out once a year to show Mr Elecsa and get it calibrated every three years.
I don't have to worry about dropping or knackering an expensive tester, and I can leave it in the motor while I'm in the wholesalers or pie shop.

If anyone sees an MFT for less than a ton let me know. I'll bite your hand off!
