Hi Chaps,

We've been asked to quote for a PIR on a sports club. The PIR is for their insurance company and the customer asked if we were ECA or NICEIC registered. Now I took it that our ELECSA registration would cover us but I've done a bit of reading and I think we need to join the ECA directly to cover us for commercial work. It's a pricey registration though so I need to make sure my understanding is correct.

Can anyone tell me if this is the case please and whether this is the accreditation that insurance companies look for on a PIR? Also does anyone have an experience of the ECA or NICEIC schemes?

My business partner has loads of industrial/commercial experience and 2391 so is competent to do the PIR.

Many thanks in advance
Stu..

elecsa is only for domestic. you need to find out what the insurance company want. some will only accept niceic.

I have often found that when queried, the insurance companies relax their stance on this.
It's more a case of them wanting to ensure that the preson conducting the inspection actually knows what they're doing, rather than any real requirement.
