Intercom interference

Hi,

I have just rewired intercoms on a block of flats. When you pick the handsets up you can hear the calling tone ever so slightly in the background. The call buttons are not being pressed it's just a constant tone.

spoke to manufacturer and technician says this is normal?

Tenants te saying this was not the case before the rewire.

is there any reason and solution for this?

Have you got another voltage going down the release button from maybe the door lock power supply.

What type of cable did you use to rewire it?

You sometimes get this crosstalk/interference if you don't use the same twisted pair on the signal cabling for each send/receive circuit, assuming you have used twisted pair cable lol.

when i use an intercom , especially at kfc drive thru's , i like to end the transmission with a
"kerchhh , over !" radio call sign a la WW2 RAF style.

System was wired in 8 core alarm cable originally. I have followed suit.

There is your problem, must be in telephone twisted pair, any longer than 30m would recommend screened twisted pair.

Not something I can rewire again to be honest. Just thought with original wiring being alarm cable I'd follow suit as there was previously no problems.

I ended up in bed with this chinese bird after a heavy night at the club,she asked me what I fancied and I said a 69 to start with,at that point she threw me out,something about not cooking at that time of night.lol
