Guys please help!

Im currently re-wiring my house and I've hit a snag. I'll try and explain

At the bottom of the stairs on the ground floor im fitting a double switch. The 1st switch turns on ground floor light and the 2nd turns on the 1st floor. Easy up to now! This is where it gets messy.

1st floor is a triple switch. 1st to turn downstairs of. The 2nd to Switch the light on the 1st floor and the last switch will turn on the 2nd floor.

2nd floor is a double switch 1st to turn off the 1st floor and the 2nd to turn on the 2nd floor. I hope your all still with me at this point.

Wiring wise I've run a twin and earth between these 3 ceiling roses back to board so it's on it's own breaker. I've then ran a twin and earth from each rose to the switch on the same floor. I've also ran two 3 core and earth strappers between each switch location.

Can anyone tell me if this is right??

Can anyone please point me in the right direction for a schematic?

Thanks in advance

Google intermediate switching and there'll be loads of pretty pictures to follow.

I'm nursing a Friday night hangover right now.....

L1 and L2 strappers run through the int. sw. the common link through at the int. sw.

You've got (more than) enough cable cores.
But you've also got the potential for a single total failure of stairs lighting.

And use a deep box on the 1st floor

Could just be reading your description wrong but it doesn't sound to me like you will need an intermediate switch there at all, just 3 2 ways. You wont be switching one light from ALL 3 floors will you? Don't forget to mark your cables as you could easily mess this all up here and have to fork out for a set of bell testers (worth buying anyway).

nice head scratcher, did a small drawing just of curiosity, looks like its gonna work.
1st floor will have a 2x 2 way and 1xintermediate in there, can recommend using grid wiring switch in there (you will need a double socket back box to use triple grid plate.

This is going to sound like a " if you need to ask this question, what are you doing taking on a full rewire"comment, but,if you need to ask such a basic question,I despair for this trade

Simple,
Google Telemecanique multi point latching relays.
Job solved.

Why does it take 30+ years for a simple multipoint switching system to reach this benighted country?
It’s because we don’t have competent electricians anymore.

Very surprised the Admins here have not moved this to the DIY forum, Very suprised
